How is this different from AWS Cost Explorer?
AWS Cost Explorer shows you what happened. CloudForecast tells you what’s happening—and why it matters. You get daily Slack reports highlighting cost trends and overruns before they spiral, custom cost breakdowns (cost-per-order, cost-per-user) that answer finance questions, and actionable insights delivered where your team already works—no logging into another dashboard.
Can’t I just build this myself?
You could—but you’d be rebuilding what we’ve spent years refining. Most teams that try end up maintaining brittle scripts, chasing AWS API changes, and dealing with alert fatigue. We handle the infra, edge cases, and integrations (Slack, Teams, JIRA, email) so your engineers can focus on building your product, not your cost tooling.
Is my data safe with the permissions I am providing?
Yes. We use read-only AWS permissions via a CloudFormation template—we can see your cost data from S3 but can’t modify resources or access application data. The permissions are never write. CloudForecast infrastructure runs on hardened AWS security controls: Security Groups with VPC layer isolation, RDS encryption with KMS, and S3 server-side encryption (SSE-S3). We’re currently preparing for SOC 2 certification.
How does the free trial work?
You get full access to all CloudForecast features for 30 days—no credit card required. That includes custom cost breakdowns, Slack threading, JIRA integration, and everything else. After 30 days, choose a paid plan to keep the advanced features, or your account automatically transitions to the free tier (daily cost reports via Slack/email). Either way, you keep getting value.
How much effort is required to get setup?
About ~5 minutes. Connect your AWS account with a CloudFormation stack (read-only IAM role), add CloudForecast to Slack or configure email delivery, and you’ll get your first cost report the next morning. Custom data ingestion (for unit economics) takes a bit longer but we guide you through it.
How does the billing work?
Flat-rate monthly pricing based. You’re billed monthly via AWS Marketplace or directly through Stripe. Cancel anytime; no long-term contracts required.
